UPGRADE Magazine was a Birmingham based quarterly publication. Unfortunately the magazine no longer is in rotation. This was an amazing experience because this all started with a simple desire to design magazines.
The magazine went through a transition when I arrived changing it's size from a 5.5" x 8.5" (Jet Magazine sized) publication to 8.5" x 10.5" So more page area to dominate, YES! This experience was amazing. I learned more about designing, production, and developing relationships with printers.

There is a funny story to how I landed this opportunity. I was out and was given the magazine. I was fresh out of college and was recognizing design EVERYWHERE. I took it upon myself to critique this magazine to the lady who gave it to me. Uh yeah I ripped it to shreds. And it just so happened to be the Editor and CEO of the magazine.EEK! But no worries it all turned out well, she respected my opinion and I respected her grit. She gave me an opportunity. So that was a time where putting my foot in my mouth paid off!
